Medical Spine and Sports Injury and Rehab Centers Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well

August 24, 2021

Your Baton Rouge chiropractor knows your spine! Medical Spine and Sports Injury and Rehab Centers understands anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned much about anatomy of the spine and puts that knowledge to use daily. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is always at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient comes into the practice! It is so exciting! (Are you not you delighted someone finds it exciting?)

LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL

Going through school, we’re all guilty of learning just to pass a test. Going to professional school, such learning is more vital than ever since it will influence everyday work. (How much do you remember from your high school or college days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists discovered that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy teaching during chiropractic school was advantageous for clinical practice, permitting better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical information to justify a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners reported that they knew their anatomy and proved it by taking a test of their knowledge. This was contrasted to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors demonstrated that they retained their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – contradicting the hypothesis that chiropractic practitioners may not keep it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is used daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your Baton Rouge chiropractor does! Just ask to find out more.

SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE

Performing spinal manipulation daily utilizes knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most common reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The most common treatment they received were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get a great deal of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of chiropractic care emerge in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers described the immediate effects of manual therapy to the upper thoracic spine on cardiovascular autonomic control of musculoskeletal pain patients (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers stated that musculoskeletal pain increased the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge of the spine’s anatomy.
