Cinnamon. It is a tasty way to help
several health issues: migraine, blood pressure,
diabetes mellitus. Chiropractic is all about health! Nutritional approaches to
various ailments enhance the body’s capability
to take care of itself. The key is finding which ones work for what! Spine & Sports Rehab Center reports on a few
of the recent papers concerning this simple
ingredient, cinnamon.
HELP FOR Baton Rouge MIGRAINE
The anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties of cinnamon were put to the
test for migraine management. Migraine, the most common primary headache
type, has increased levels of inflammation. Compared to a control treatment,
cinnamon significantly reduced levels of inflammatory agents,
interleukin-6 and nitric oxide. Cinnamon also reduced
the frequency, severity and duration of migraine attacks.
Cinnamon eased migraine in this study! Additionally,
cinnamon is a safe supplement. (1) Spine & Sports Rehab Center happily presents
research-based safe alternatives to try for health.
BLOOD PRESSURE
Blood pressure is a common health condition
for many Baton Rouge folks. Supplementing with cinnamon favorably and significantly affected
diastolic blood pressure and significantly affected systolic blood pressure
when taken for at least 8 weeks. (2) Several reports
have stated that cinnamon reduced blood pressure. A recent
meta-analysis of 9 randomized clinical trials reported that cinnamon
supplementation can improve blood pressure by a modest degree
overall. Significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased
when using 2 grams or more a day of cinnamon for at least 8
weeks. (3) That is news worth sharing with our
Baton Rouge chiropractic patients.
DIABETES TYPE II
Spine & Sports Rehab Center cares for many patients
who also have diabetes type II. Diabetes
mellitus is a disease encompassing a variety of
different issues related to insulin resistance or low
production of it by the pancreas. This all gives rise to lifelong damage to organs over a lifetime.
Management is complex. Herbs are frequently included in the
management. Cinnamon is mentioned as a
favorable choice for diabetic hypertensive patients. (4) A
survey of the use of complementary alternative medicine by diabetic patients found
that many use bitter apple, ginger, fenugreek, garlic and cinnamon. 66.1% consumed
cinnamon. (5) Spine & Sports Rehab Center wants to know what our
chiropractic patients are taking and if they find benefit.
