“How many times do I have to
see you, doc?” A common question for your Baton Rouge
chiropractor. Chiropractic care at Spine & Sports Rehab Center goes by an
evidence-based algorithm of care backed by clinical research
that goes back to the 1970’s: The Cox® Technic System of
Spinal Pain Management. Recent research bears out the
system and its goals in which Baton Rouge chiropractic patients can find
peace as they heal.
CHIROPRACTIC USE
Baton Rouge chiropractic patients wouldn’t
be chiropractic patients if it did not help.
The latest study of who utilizes
chiropractic was conducted in Malaysia: 35% of Malayasians
utilized chiropractic. Though it was slightly lower
than traditional and complementary medicine care usage there, it is a good number!
(1) About 25% of U.S. residents sought chiropractic
for neck and back pain management. 35
million U.S. adults went to a chiropractor in the last 12 months. (2) That number is growing as additional
people pursue and find a non-surgical, conservative
approach to pain relief in chiropractic understanding that it may
take a few visits to obtain results. Spine & Sports Rehab Center
is committed to setting a realistic treatment plan for the best possible
outcome.
RECENT RESEARCH RESULTS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE AT 3
MONTHS
Wondering how many chiropractic visits
patients use and the outcomes? A new study found
that in 1,362 chronic low back pain patients and 1,214 chronic neck pain
patients’ function improved and back and neck pain reduced with
chiropractic care in 3 months. Those who reported
worse pain initially had more chiropractic
visits. Chronic low back pain sufferers with more than one visit a week benefitted more. At 3
months, chronic back and neck pain patients were improving slowly, may have even reached maximum improvement,
and were quite possibly managing their chronic pain using
a variety of chiropractic visit frequencies. (3) That is
our goal, too, at Spine & Sports Rehab Center: educate our Baton Rouge back pain and
neck pain patients about how they can support themselves with pain
management and prevention! With Cox®
Technic, a study of 1000 patients found that 29 days and 12 visits were the mean days and visits for improvement. Disc herniations took a bit
longer and required more visits than sprain/strains. (4) Spine & Sports Rehab Center
shares statistics like this to assist our chiropractic
patients make realistic expectations.
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS WITH CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Baton Rouge chronic back and neck
pain sufferers are realistic. Despite health policy today that seems
to seek a cure for whatever is wrong, most chronic
spine pain patients want pain management that they understand
will necessitate ongoing care rather than “cure” from their chiropractic
care. (5) Cox® Technic implemented at Spine & Sports Rehab Center has always presented
the idea of “control not cure” when it comes to most back pain and neck pain issues. It resonates with back pain and neck pain sufferers who have pursued care from so many different healthcare
professionals that they understand it. The 50% Rule
of Cox® Technic makes sense to them: 50% relief in 30 days or referral for
imaging or other consultation, 50% relief reduces the visit
frequency by 50%, 50% relief changes the treatment from Protocol I to Protocol
II, etc. The chiropractic care system of Cox® Technic follows an established algorithm
that gives patients realistic expectations.
